WWJT 12/29 – Luke 2:41-52
Luke 2:41-52
41Now every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the festival of the Passover. 42And when he was twelve years old, they went up as usual for the festival. 43When the festival was ended and they started to return, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. 44Assuming that he was in the group of travelers, they went a day’s journey. Then they started to look for him among their relatives and friends. 45When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for him. 46After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48When his parents saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Child, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been searching for you in great anxiety.” 49He said to them, “Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50But they did not understand what he said to them. 51Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52And Jesus increased in wisdom and in years, and in divine and human favor.

A bit of explanation to the regular users of The Holy Apostles website is in order. The post “Welcome Visitors” was in response to an enormous increase in traffic after the 12/29 article over at standfirminfaith.com titled “Episcopal Incompetence: Bishop Oversees Massive Losses in Western New York”. Our site recieved well over one hundred unique visitors in one day and the visitors accumulated nearly 1,000 page views. I encourage you to read it and draw your own conclusions. The article, although somewhat littered with personal and unsubstantiated attack, has some value in its content. Many of the issues pointed out in the article are what brought us together in the vessel we call “The Holy Apostles”. It just goes to show, there is good in everything and everyone.
Our journey will continue, God willing.
Welcome Visitors
First, I’d like to welcome all of the recent visitors from the Stand Firm website. I am somewhat troubled that many of you have journeyed here hoping to find humor and fodder for comment. I suppose some of you will be satisfied with your findings and steal away with just enough information to fuel your chatter. Some of you may find us… “refreshing”.
On a more serious note..
As a congregation, we also are not happy with the process that led to our current circumstance. As I’m sure ALL of you know, we cannot move backwards. We have to accept the challenge that is ahead of us. We intend to move forward, embracing our love of God and each other (each other includes all of you). Yes, we will be visiting worship services throughout our area. What’s a poor boy to do? We don’t have a building. “Have Church, Will Travel”. Our numbers are small, we won’t take up much room.
Peace
P.S. You don’t need to chain the BCP to the pews. It’s available online.
Our Last Sermon
I thought I’d post this for anyone who may have missed the service. It certainly was reflective of our situation and how best to look forward with hope and understanding of the “Big Picture”.
Once again, thank you Sare.
