Luke 5:1-11
1So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. 4When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” 9For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” 11So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him. — NKJV

Here goes.  First, chop up a medium onion and place in skillet with about 4 tbsp. olive oil. Cook until the edges turn golden brown.  Then add garlic, how much depends on your taste.  I put 4-5 cloves in using a garlic press. This you cook for maybe 30-45 seconds..until fragrant.  Then, throw some red wine in and allow it to cook down.  Maybe a 1/2 cup.  Sample the wine first.  It should have a little sweetness to it.  Have a sip for me.

Once the wine is cooked off…add two 28 oz. cans crushed tomatoes let it simmer.   I use Hunts.  Add  some salt, maybe 1 tbsp.  If you have fresh flat leaf parsley, add a few sprigs chopped up.  It adds a nice flavor.  If not, use a little bit of dried but not too much.   Have another glass of wine while you let this simmer a bit and cook up some pasta…any kind you want.  Just before serving, add a few tbsp. olive oil to the sauce…not the pasta.  Bon appetit!

Luke 4:21-32
21And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” 23He said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.’” 24Then He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country. 25But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; 26but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath,in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.” 28So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. 30Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way. 31Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. 32And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.
