    Again… another wonderful experience.

I wondered today…why? Why the absence of congregations? What can we do?
My view today seemed to mirror what I’ve seen in each of the churches we’ve visited this year.

Here’s the church and here’s the steeple, open the doors and ???????????

Just to clarify… this is not a sad story. Rev. Marie Buckingham delivered a wonderful message today and was truly inspiring. Even though our numbers may appear small we have to continue to work together. We need to share our gifts and skills, understanding and accepting our differences, and use love as the glue to bind us.

Rev. Buckingham pointed out that we wouldn’t learn very much from each other if we were all the same. We all have something we can offer. Listen for your calling, find it, and do it!

The number of folks in attendance today is unimportant. The spirit was large and I was singing “Rock of Ages” all the way home… just a little bit faster.

Here we go again. Another wonderful church with no parish priest and a shrinking congregation. The loyal few who have remained are very dedicated to All Saints and even more so to each other. Some expressed a certain sadness when reflecting on how large the congregation used to be. It’s apparent that those who left All Saints, for whatever reason, are still missed.
During our church visits, we’ve met so many wonderful folks who worship in small congregations. How nice would it be if all these people could find a way to get together and meet one another. I think they would see how much in common they have and maybe…just maybe, find a place where they all can worship together.
Wouldn’t that be nice? Just a thought.
