St. Mark’s in North Tonawanda is a good old fashioned Episcopal Church. The service was traditional and included a fine sermon on “Transfiguration” that was delivered from the pulpit. The congregation numbered over one hundred and I was told by Rev. Deacon Dworak that this was just short of average attendence. He said they also have over twenty folks at the 8:00 am service. It was nice to see several generations together and you could feel the church come alive after the sermon, when the children entered to share in communion.
All in all it is a nice successful church that obviously is preaching the “good news” in a way that continues to attract a faithful following. If you’re looking for a church with all the “bells and whistles” this is the place for you. Although we didn’t stay very long after the service this congregation seemed very welcoming and family friendly.
