On a lighter note, regarding this week's WWJT.... Don't know if any of you follow Twitter, but the following Tweets occurred later Tuesday night.... It made me smile

sareliz - '...and now let's let that sink in with a few moments of quiet,' Sarey says. This oft used phrase is usually followed by 10-20 sec of quiet.

sarelize - Tonight, it was followed by giggling and snickering from more than one quarter. Note: this is not a teen bible study. Average age is 55.

sareliz - 'This is not quiet,' Karen mutters w/ an ironic tone. 'No, this is camp after lights-out,' retorts George. Begin full on laughter.

sareliz - Sarey puts head in hands and sighs. But she also smiles.

For those readers who have not attended our bible study.... this is pretty much the norm!

Ive read this again. What I see as a turning point is when the people said, " Isnt this Josephs son?" Jesus had just tried to speak to their spirits by saying the scripture was fulfilled in their hearing, but they replied on a completely different level, like saying thiis man is just josephs son, how could he come up with these words of grace. they were not responding from the spirit but from the flesh. So perhaps this caused jesus to beome indignant with them and from then on the whole the conversation went down hill, Jesus said some real sharp words, basically saying that God would do his work thru the Gentlies because his own people were too hard- hearted to accept the words of the spirit.

I find this passage amusing. First, he's respected than thrown out. Was it because he threw a list of false prophets at them? Why did he say those things anyway? What was he expecting after that? Now he's in Capernaum....what next?

LAst weeks reading contd . I wonder , what happened at the synagogue??? Jesus reads the passage, then says it is fulfilled in their hearing. and everyone seems very much impressed by Jesus and his gracious words . then they ask , "isnt he Josephs son??" .....then the next thing jesus tells them some things about old prophets being without honor in their own town or country and rejected , and the people become incensed at him and want to throw him off the a cliff. . What a change in attitude in the matter of minutes it seems. It has a ring of truth to it in that people can change their stripes just like that.... I will have to study this some more.

²¹And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” ²²So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” ²³He said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.’” ²⁴Then He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country. ²⁵But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; ²⁶but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath,in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. ²⁷And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.” ²⁸So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, ²⁹and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. ³⁰Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way. ³¹Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. ³²And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.
