Saint Bartholomew

Saint Bartholomew was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament. He is also known as Nathanael or Nathaniel and is believed to have gone on missionary trips to Ethiopia, Mesopotamia, Parthia, Lycaonia, and Armenia. He is mentioned in the Gospel lists of Matthew 10:3, Mark 3:18, and Luke 6:14. Tradition states that he converted King Polimius and his wife along with twelve cities to Christianity. He was a doctor in Jewish law and a close friend of St. Philip the Apostle.
